Red Car is focused on growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in a network of cold-climate vineyards on the edge of the Pacific in the West Sonoma Coast. They are hands-on farmers, part of a small cadre of wineries in our region who are fortunate to grow a large majority of our own fruit. For several years now they have worked hard to go beyond sustainability and have integrated the concepts and principles of organic, biodynamic and permaculture systems into their farming as they search for nature’s ideal pathways. Red Car's wines are made in small lots utilizing minimalist intervention techniques like native yeast fermentation, gravity flow, and natural acid.Red Car's winemaking philosophy was more than a decade in the making and represents the culmination of thousands of hours working in cellars and vineyards, reviewing geologic and climatic data, studying vinous history, travelling abroad and tasting the best (and the worst) of the world’s wine offerings. Red Car's wines are pure, elegant examples of the cool climate West Sonoma Coast and, most importantly, speak with the unique voices of the vineyards in which they were grown. Christina will be pouring: the 2014 Estate Pinot Noir with hints of plum, raspberry, citrus rind, bergamot; the 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir with notes of rose petals, raspberries; the 2014 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay with hints of lemon creme, wet stone, apple blossom, and crisp acidity; the 2013 Sonoma Coast Syrah that holds blackberry, sandalwood, white pepper notes; and finally, the notorious 2016 Red Car Rosé of Pinot Noir with characteristics of wild strawberries, tangerine oil, pink grapefruit, Bing cherries, rose petals!
Tasting is free and available anytime from 4:00 - 6:00. Must be at least 21 years old.
